December 5th - Special day for Plum Village Order of Interbeing members
December 6th-8th- Retreat
Join Dharma Teachers Peggy Rowe and Larry Ward in exploring the Zen teachings of Master Empty Cloud. The urgent state of our planetary and social existence invites us as persons to choose to elevate the conscious self-direction of our healing, transformation and liberation.
This retreat is accessible regardless of if you are a beginners or a more experienced mindfulness practitioner.
We will share in appreciating and applying the core Zen teachings of Laying our Burden Down. We offer this retreat to assist us all in letting go of the conditioning of our bodies and mind that no longer serve our sacred duty to the flow of being.
Many years ago, Peggy and Larry joined Thich Nhat Hanh (affectionately known as ‘Thay’ to his students) and others on a pilgrimage to Nan Hua Monastery in China to attend its 1500-year anniversary. Our procession of over 100 enjoyed walking meditation from our nearby lodging to the Temple gate. At the entrance Thay whispered to those of us near him, “Master Empty Cloud taught here, study him.”
Here is some practice wisdom from Empty Cloud:
“Beyond meditation practice, there is attitude. It is the willingness to go deeper in the journey of awakening. A practitioner must learn to cultivate disentanglement from illusions so that the potentialities inherent in us can be activated to the full and they become ready for instantaneous awakening.”
Please join us in Laying Your Burden Down.
