An Animal Blessing
Lotus is excited to welcome spiritual teachers and partners Kaira Jewel Lingo & Adam Bucko to join us for this dharma festival where we celebrate the gifts, insights and guidance we receive from the animals we meet.
Led by Kaira, Adam, Larry, and Peggy, we'll share wisdom from our animal friends, while exploring our reciprocity and interconnectedness with the natural world as a whole. The event will include music, meditation, dharma teachings and a special ceremony to receive and extend the blessing between all beings.

Meet the teachers
Kaira Jewel Lingo, Adam Bucko and 🐾 Rafiki 🐾
Kaira Jewel Lingo is a Dharma teacher with a lifelong interest in blending spirituality and meditation with social justice. She received Lamp Transmission from Thich Nhat Hanh, and is also a teacher in the Vipassana Insight lineage. Kaira co-authored the wonderful new book, Healing Our Way Home: Black Buddhist Teachings on Ancestors, Joy, and Liberation. Today, she sees her work as a continuation of the Engaged Buddhism developed by Thich Nhat Hanh as well as the work of her parents, inspired by their stories and her dad’s work with Martin Luther King Jr.
Father Adam Bucko has been a committed voice in the movement for the renewal of Christian Contemplative Spirituality and the growing New Monastic movement. He is the acclaimed author of Let Your Heartbreak Be Your Guide: Lessons in Engaged Contemplation. He has taught engaged contemplative spirituality in Europe and the United States. Adam serves as a director at The Center for Spiritual Imagination at the Episcopal Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City, New York.
Together, Adam and Kaira, lead The Buddhist-Christian Community for Meditation and Action.
Peggy Rowe Ward, Larry Ward and 🐾Tashi 🐾
Peggy and Larry, founders and guiding teachers of the Lotus Institute, are world renowned senior Dharma teachers ordained by Thich Nhat Hanh in the Plum Village tradition. For over 30 years, they have been dedicated to opening the bodhisattva path to all beings through retreats, courses, books, university engagements, talks and more. Larry is the celebrated author of America's Racial Karma: An Invitation to Heal. Both Peggy and Larry co-authored the personal and practical, Love's Garden: A Guide To Mindful Relationships.
