Qigong Practice
“Internal martial arts are meditation in motion. A flowing stillness where awareness is not separate from the world, but fully embodied within it. Where the distinction between stillness and movement begins to dissolve.”
Join us for a live qigong class led by Matt Dorma, where we’ll enjoy gentle, easy-to-learn movement, along with breathwork and self-massage, all drawn from the internal martial arts of qigong and tai chi.
In the class, our shared intention is simple: move to feel. We draw attention to the whole body—especially to the parts we often overlook. We move softly, giving ourselves time to notice the subtle details of our body and our surroundings. We don’t push full effort, but instead do a little less so that we can make room for curiosity.

Matt Dorma (he/him)
Alongside teaching qigong and tai chi, Matt is the Director of Communications at Lotus Institute and a Buddhist community leader in the Plum Village Order of Interbeing.
Through mindful movement, breathwork, and massage, Matt finds that his active, monkey mind is just a little less in control, offering helpful glimpses of a body and mind more in balance—each allowed to inform the other. He is drawn to the playfulness and creativity of these practices, and loves to share that exploration with others.
Matt studies with the Tree of Life Tai Chi Studio in Boston, the SYL Wushu Institute in Richmond, BC, and with Thu Nguyen from the Mindfulness Practice Center of Fairfax. As a teacher, communicator, and friend his work is rooted in authenticity, humor, helpfulness, and accessibility.
